The COO and CEO of King Of The Hill have been on many adventures…
Having met 7 years ago on a spontaneous surf trip, battling high winds and a lack of tent pegs their idea for the ultimate adventure sports app was born!
Having spent endless nights building and honing the idea KOTH (King Of The Hill) is nearly ready to launch!
But before then, one more adventure…
"The idea came to us while in our local pub thinking of the craziest things we could possibly do to raise awareness, since then we have run around London in ski boots, competed an ultra marathon event in ski boots and all in all committed everything to the cause. Its going to be a hell of a mission. No lifts, just legs…" (Reuben Gray)
Why are we doing this?
Our co-founder and CEO Reuben’s love for adventure was first sparked by his godfather, Jerry Chilvers, who sadly lost his battle with cancer. It was on a ski lift, when Reuben was just 13, that Jerry first coined the phrase “King of the Hill” — a moment that has stayed with him ever since.
One trip, before his passing, he challenged Reuben and his cousin to a race.
He said the winner would be the "The King of the Hill". On the chairlift, he gave them a list of rules—no starting early, goggles on, and so on. When they reached the top, he threw in one final rule: "There are no rules" then pushed them over and raced down the hill as fast as he could.
Every race since is in memory of him—the man who showed him that adventure is about living without limits.
This journey is fuelled by that inspiration: a tribute to Jerry’s spirit, a challenge to ourselves, and a commitment to raising funds to make King of the Hill a name that stands for adventure, resilience, and purpose, while also supporting Cancer Research Uk and Snow Camp!
